10 different Ways to do Search Engine Optimization
1. Meta Titles / Headers
Every website has a “meta†area of coding. Adding in specific keywords that can be read by search engines and that show relevance to your site is one of the main components of getting higher in rankings. To do this, go to your page source and at the top, add in a meta title and 1- 3 headers.
2. Meta descriptions
Meta descriptions are categorized by search engines and are noticed under the main title of a search engine. Writing meta descriptions into your HTML code or website with the right keywords helps search engines and your potential target market to recognize who you are.
3. Keywords
The keywords that are used on your site are added in to create recognition of what your site is about and makes you ’searchable’ with specific words. Before adding in keywords, make sure that you look at the topic of your site and what competitors use. You want to mix in unique words, as well as ones that show your specialized topic, as this will be used when potential customers are looking for you.
4. Submit to Search Engines
An overlooked and invaluable way to get your search engine rankings up begin with submitting your website to search engine categories. Make sure that you take your URL and manually or automatically list it in areas such as Google, Yahoo! and MSN, then find specific search engines for your region or by category.
5. One Way Links
Linking is one of the strongest ways to drive traffic to your site. To do this, go to other sites, such as directories or social media areas, and place your website URL on the sites with a one way link back to your home page. Both search engines and potential traffic will be able to notice the activity going to your site.
6. Reciprocal Links
Reciprocal links are also known as two way links. You will submit your link to a website or directory, and in return, you will place the link of that portal onto your site. While this does not get as much notice ability as other types of links, it can still help with showing there is activity on your site.
7. Blogs
Blogs, or web logs, allow you to add content to a moving platform. You can use this not only to add information about your expertise, but can create a link to your website. The more activity you have on this, such as through links and comment responses, the more you will get noticed.
8. Directories
There are hundreds of directories and listing areas where you can list your URL or place ads about your website and products. Some of these are used directly for shopping, while others consist of basic URL links by category.
9. Social media networking
The latest tools in technology are linked to social media networking. You can use places such as Linked In, Facebook, Twitter or other social areas to connect to others directly. Within each site are specific areas where you can place ads, connections, links and other sources that connect you directly to those interested in your expertise or products.
10. SEO article marketing
Writing and distributing articles to article directories is an effective way to promote your website. You will want to write about your areas of expertise and connect this to your website through article directories.

I would like to add something to ‘reciprocal links’. It must be kept in mind that you should bait a link with such a site that is not blacklisted by google or any other search engine and is not using any kind of BlackHat SEO. Always try to research a bit about the person you’re linking to because if you do it in a wrong way, you will get banned.

Hey Usman, your blog is looking GREAT! You’ve come a long way since I last stopped by. That’s excellent.
Hope all is going well with you.
By the way, just curious – do you also work with Dreamweaver at all? Do you have any CSS skills? I’m just thinking over some future projects.

Hello,
Nice post. One thing that is never discussed but that I have found to be very helpful in getting traffic to my sites is to answer questions on Yahoo Answers. I don’t spam to do it, but when possible, I provide a link back to my site as the source of my answer. Which of course means that I have to first make sure there really is an answer to the particular question on my site. So, sometimes what I do is read the question then go make a quick blog post on my blog that answers the question.
Sometimes I get an additional 300 or so visitors in a week from Yahoo answers by doing this.
Keep up the great work.
